Suspended in Time

Frozen in space,
Echoing yesterday,
Eons ago,
Specimens of strength,
standing against time.

Virile in its tryst,
Constricted to converge,
Stark envelops of light,
Escaping into an oblivion below.

Seated in the center,
Spectators of the mother,
Tried and tested,
Bound and triumphant.

Unified and blended,
The kingdom underneath,
Sentinels of the past,
Suspended in time.

Under their ghost,
I feel as one,
Scattered into memories,
Suspended in time.

Convoluted and bezier,
Raised to itself,
Worthy of divinity,
Crawling measures of depth,
A great reminder,
That civilizations will come and go,
Genetics come and go,
The mother will remain,
With her vigil and warm bosom.

– A poem that turned out from a vision that I had in the amphitheatre inside the great Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico. The formation of stalagmites and stalactites is pure art that mother nature has perfected over millions of years. As a scientist, it is also the confluence of the work of physics, chemistry and biology in time. One of the most special places that I have been lucky to witness throughout my journey across the US.

I leave you with the image that inspired this work. Enjoy!

Nils Frahm is a genius of ambient sounds and deserves a listen. I often use his music for meditation or writing.
